Bringing Cap Udang’s Family Story to Life Through Malay Voiceover
This recent advertising voiceover project for Cap Udang (大东亚双虾标青草油) was specially crafted for the Malay-speaking market, with a strong focus on highlighting the product’s appeal as “for the whole family.”
To achieve this, we developed four distinct age-specific voiceovers—child, teenager, adult, and elder—each representing a different stage of life. By carefully shaping vocal tone and energy, we ensured that the voices didn’t just narrate, but also conveyed warmth, care, and authenticity across generations.
The Challenge: Four Generations, One Unified Voice
Working with a Malay voiceover team for the very first time, the process was both exciting and demanding. Balancing the teenager’s “not too mature, not too childish” delivery, and finding the right grounded yet natural tone for the elder voice were key challenges. At one point, we even reworked the entire background music arrangement to better complement the voices—making the rhythm lighter so the vocals could truly shine.
The Outcome: Authentic & Family-Centered
In the end, these refinements gave the campaign a genuine, family-centered feel, perfectly aligned with Cap Udang’s brand values. From the cheerful child’s delivery to the steady reassurance of the elder’s voice, the four voices together painted a lively and heartwarming picture of family unity.
Looking back, all the endless audio tweaks, coaching sessions, and even getting kids to shout the iconic “Udang-udang!” chant became part of the fun and the story. We’re incredibly grateful for the client’s trust and collaboration in bringing this project to life.
